Ontario Prospects – Ontario’s Career Planning Guide

Ontario Prospects is an annual career planning guide for students in Grades 7 to 12, educators, job counsellors and others seeking career information. Ontario Prospects celebrates and promotes student success in Ontario and includes information on self assessment, career planning, job search preparation, workplace safety, the labour market, postsecondary destinations, skills training, and community resources. It is distributed to all schools, boards, postsecondary institutions, job counselling agencies, and many other organizations, in early May. Ontario Prospects has been supporting student success for 17 years.

The focus of the publication is on personal stories by students and recent graduates of their challenges and successes in the education system, including experiential learning, the workplace, and re-engagement through student success programs. Ontario Prospects and its supplementary user’s guide support guidance, cooperative education, and transitions, as well as literacy and differentiated instruction strategies in the classroom, in support of the ministry’s K to 12 focus. The publication represents a full diversity of students in a full range of programs, across the schools, boards, and communities of Ontario. An integral resource to student success, student voice and student engagement, this publication shares the results of successful teaching, learning, and mentoring practices among the boards and schools of the province.
